From Monday 6th – Friday 10th February, we celebrated and raised awareness for Children’s Mental Health.
The theme for this year was Let’s Connect and at KS, we focused on how we can connect with ourselves, as well as others in our community.
As part of this, children in Years 1-6 took part in a meditation session and took time to reflect on their breathing and how they can incorporate these techniques into their daily routines while Nursery children have also been having a go at being mindful and learnt the word ‘namaste’.
Year 3 linked their class assembly to children’s mental health and reminded us about the importance of positive connections and recognising our emotions. In addition to this, we were visited by Matt Charlton from Place2Be who spoke to the Juniors about their mental health and discussed how we can connect with our words and actions.
Matt also spoke to the Seniors and paid special attention to connections in social media and the importance of staying safe in the online world.
Children enjoyed time in their classrooms thinking about ‘Let’s Connect’ by creating paper chains to illustrate how they connect with others.
Finally, we rounded up the week with some excellent displays of expression with our Dress to Express day.
